7 Steps to a Successfull Press Release
Hallo,
KGIConsult has set the sails off to serve you the best possible way! The website is LIVE and I am taking massive action to helping you on your way to your personal success!
On the way, a few things like blogs and videos and articles are of course part of the journey. And so are press releases. Now, getting ready for the first press release for KGI Consult I realised that there were a few steps and rules we all need to follow to make any press release a success … and this is what I want to share with you here today!
1. It must look PROFESSIONAL
Press releases are professional communications, no funny back grounds nor gimmicks or jokes should be part of it.
2. A Press Release is NOT A PROMOTIONAL MESSAGE
Do not make your press release sound like a giant add but write in an objective way about your company or product.
3. Keep it SHORT
A good Press Release is not necessary a long press release. Write short sentences and keep to the essential message you want to pass. No hype and long, complicated sentences should be in there.
4. Be INTERESTING
Make sure that you put some “life” into your text, no hype but some sparkling sentences, not to bore people with dry topics. ENthusiasm is what best helps you writing even about a a dry subject matter in a vivid way!
5. Know your READERS
Be aware to whom you send the press release, is it a general information to editors or is it a specific press release aimed at experts. The wording and details will have different levels. Eg. in the case of a new car store, editors will want to know more about the opening and special offers, if available, sales people about the different car types …
6. Use PROPER TENSE and GRAMMAR
Use examples of press releases to see how to avoid these kind of mistakes. Usually present tense is used for trendy stories (e.g. KGI Consult launches the working mom’s forum and is excited to ….), past tense is more used for official announcements (KGI Consult announced today their official launch of …).
7. Tell a STORY
Writing down facts NEVER is as attracting as building them into a story. Even the best product may not gain as much visibility as a mediocre one – as facts never attract as many readers and potential interests as a good story!
Think visually when you write your press release. Do not ever make any false statements of commitments you can not hold. Know your limitations and believe in your success!
Any questions or suggestions … THANK YOU in advance for your comments and notes here below!
To your success
